Also:
dude, Poltergeist and Conquest of the Planet of the Apes are totally on my to-watch list.

Because this just made me smile/lol a little: "The Social Science Tower was featured in several scenes. And at one point the apes storm the University Administration building to overthrow their human rulers."

lol :D

but yes, I already knew about these two (Monica, a friend, told me.  She also went to UCI) and I've already seen Poltergeist but I want to see it again just so I can say, 'Hey, I know where that was filmed!'

Okay, time to go study for that test on Friday...

Dear Inception: you rocked. And stop invading my brain. I have enough obsessions already :/

Inception is eating away at my brain!  Like a zombie 0_0 I love it.

Thoughts on Inception )

In other news, Amazon.com is awesome.  I ordered Being Human season 1 and chose free shipping, which normally takes longer, but the DVD arrived Wednesday, which is way earlier than the predicted date that it would get here today.  And now I feel sorta guilty for that one time when I accidentally recieved two copies of the BSG season 4 soundtrack (and I didn't return it gave the extra one to my brother).  Oh well.  What's past is past.

(Seriously, I've had the worse luck with technology.  I won't go into the mishap that happened at Barnes and Noble last month.  Let's just say I felt more guilty than the Amazon mishap.  And I was slightly paranoid afterwards, especially when I went back to the store.)(And it's not really me having bad luck with technology, it's just whenever I buy things and something goes wrong and I'm all like, 'Oh, wonder how that happened' or 'OMG they didn't charge me for that item/book and yet I still have it in my possession! *paranoid the rest of the day*')

To get out of that topic, TV shows.  Mainly Psych and Covert Affairs.

Psych )

Covert Affairs )

I am behind in watching White Collar, Eureka, and Burn Notice.  But eventually I'll get caught up.  I just don't know when.

0_0 oh my god *cringe*

I read some old journal entries from 2003, wondering if I marked down when I got my first laptop (which still works, BTW.  It's a Compaq Windows and I only turn it on nowadays if I want to change the songs on my Rio portable music player.  That, granted, only stores ~65 songs, but if I take the bus to UCI, I'm not taking my iPod with me.  Because, IDK, I just don't.

But the hardware for the Rio player only works on the Compaq and not my other laptop which is why I sometimes turn on the Compaq laptop.  And it still works.  And around our house we seemingly have bad luck with laptops surviving past 4-5 years and the Compaq is...old?  I don't know how old, but it still turns on and, despite me not being able to use it for much, it still works, which, wow).

To get back to the journal entries, OMG don't read them if you fear for your sanity 0_0 (and now why do I feel paranoid that whoever reads this will rush off and read them?)  I sounded so young...and I think I was trying to be hip and I was new on LJ so I didn't have much friends and I was trying to be all cool-ish and, now that I look back on it, I was just lame.  I feel like channeling my inner Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye and calling my younger self a phony, but I kinda don't want to.

(I should also tag all those older entries because I found some that just made me go, 'Oh yeah, I liked that back then :D'.  Like The West Wing.)

(Not to mention my post of anger when I found Serenity was pushed back from April 22 to September 30.  I was so young and juvenile LOL :P)

...I want to say my Compaq laptop is from 2003.  I think I got it that year.  Or maybe 2004 :/ whatever year I got it in, it's lasted a pretty long time.  (Now I feel as if I'm jinxing myself lol.)

Dear SoCal:

Please stop shaking.  That's the, IDK, third, second? earthquake this year.

(It didn't last as long as the other one but I could really feel the rolling movement.)

and LOL I so totallly just sat at my desk and went all, 'Earthquake?  Earthquake!  Yay!' and then, 'Maybe I should go under the doorway in case it gets worse?'  Those earthquake drills haven't really paid off.  I think in a more severe one I'd be running out the house, but these little tiny ones are just fun to feel.  The tiny ones.  The ones that last longer than 10 seconds have me running out the room in panic.  Compared to the one a month or so ago, this one was just tiny.

So yes, interesting night so far.

I'm still alive.

Despite being gone for about a month or so :/

and that 30 day meme thing?  Not gonna finish.

I have been reading my friends list and everything.  Just not been posting a whole lot.  (Unless you follow me on Twitter and I've just been tweeting a lot over there.)

Anyway, I'll do a massive post on real life stuff/TV shows later.  I just wanted to make a post saying that I'm still here and haven't disappeared entirely.

All those geology/earth science classes come in handy...

I definately felt that rolling motion in the earthquake.

It started off slight.  Then increased.  And stayed that way for about...IDK.  45 seconds?

It was very noticable.  Probably the most noticable one by far in my 21 years of living in CA.

Well...actually, no.  I say that about every earthquake I experience, actually.

(And afterwards I still felt the rolling motion.  It was like being on a ship.  That constant rolling motion...)

It was scary though.  I was like, 'Earthquake?' to my family, while I was in my room, and then remembering, 'Quick, go under the doorframe!'

And who says earthquake drills never come in handy?

Actually, I think we learned to go out away from buildings when there are earthquakes and the fire drills are hiding under the desk one.

From what I've googled, it was an aftershock, more likely, from a 6.9 that happened in Mexcio.  (At least I think it was an aftershock.  I have no idea.  Geology/earth science wasn't one of my strong points.  The only things that interested me in those classes were fossils/dinosaurs.)

But yeah...normal day in California, by far :)

and...nothing was damaged.

Random pictures of pigeons acting creepy as if they had seen The Birds very recently )

Anyway, that tornado?  Never came.  Apparently one did touch down in Long Beach or somewhere like that but we never got one here in Tustin/Santa Ana.  And it's still raining.  Another day, another storm :/ it takes all this rain to make me appreciate the sunshine.

I'm caught up on HIMYM and Dollhouse and have some thoughts about those shows to post someday when I feel like typing more.  I just felt like posting these pictures because lol pigeons :P

I went and joined [info]whedonland in order to make myself get more invovled with LJ groups and stuff.

Because I know I'm not that good at being involved in comments and groups and stuff and I will change my being-shy-on-LJ ways.

Anyway, just wanted to mention that...

Harry Potter and school

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince review )

In other news, I got a lava lamp.  Yay!  My inner hippy self is satisfied.

Um...I still need to watch Merlin from Sunday.

I finished watching season 3 of Stargate Atlantis.  I don't think I could've handled watching it live.  All the season finales end with a 'To Be Continued'.  I would've hated waiting for the next season.  Which is why I like getting caught up with shows on DVD.  And Rodney grew to be my favorite character.  After Carson, you know, (should I put this behind a cut?  Does everyone know what happens to Carson?) died.  I like John as well.  And Ronon's grown on me too.  As well as Weir.  Don't like Teyla for some reason :/

Hopefully after I finish getting caught up with Burn Notice season 2 I can go back to watching season 4 of SGA.

School stuff )

Oh.  And I made a new icon.  A Battlestar Galactica based one because I like Leoben.

Just my luck.  I'm babysitting my neighbor's cat and goldfish for the week and I unlock their house this morning and go in to feed the fish and what do I find?  A dead goldfish.

My mom assures me it wasn't my fault, that fish are delicate, but meanwhile I'm running through everything I did yesterday, wondering if turning on the cold air to cool the house down from 84 degrees to 80 was wrong to do, maybe that killed the fish, or if I accidentally overfed them, or something like that.

Just one goldfish died, though, not two.  Unless the other one will follow soon, which I don't want to happen.

I had to break the bad news to my neighbor, though, during her vacation, no less.

But now I just feel all guilty.

On the other hand, the Sci-Fi channel is showing a marathon of The Sentinel.  That show was so good.  Blair was especially cute.  So...trying to get my mind off the fact that a fish died on my watch and trying to get on with life.

I'm just hoping I don't kill the tomato plant I'm supposed to water every day (which I am.  Watering it every day, I mean, not killing it.  But you never know; if a fish died on my watch so far, I wonder what else will follow.  Though I'm hoping none will follow.  It was hard enough telling my neighbor.  Which my mom said to text her instead of call her.  Hopefully she got my text.  It was harder texting her than anything, though).

*is nervous*

Nervous...and excited.

Going to my first Can't Stop the Serenity event tonight.  So so so so nervous and excited.

And I wonder how many people will be there :/

But yay that they're showing the movie in Irvine!  I guess that means that there are other Firefly fans that live in Orange County.  Not that I had any doubts that I was the only Firefly fan in southern California, but...yay!  I get to meet Browncoats/Serenity fans that are not my neighbors!

...and I'm tired.  Due to the fact that I woke up this morning because a helicoptor thought it would be awesome to install air conditioner units into an empty store that Mervyn's once occupied :/ I live half a mile away from that; my first thought when I woke up at 6:34: "Why is there a helicoptor outside?  I wonder what's going on..." and then I dozed back off to sleep.

Though the entire thing gives me hope that a new clothing store will move into the building.  Such as Kohl's.  Love that place so much.  The ones that I know of are in downtown Santa Ana across from the community college and one near Irvine Valley College, and both are too far away for me, and my mom, because she likes going there, but hates the distance.  If Kohl's does move where Mervyn's once was, then it won't be as long of a drive.
