So this past weekend was a lot of fun.

Saturday night I went out with some friends to see an improv show, except it was like a challenge/competition improv and had representatives from each major improv team competing with each other to see who would be 'crowned' improv king.

It was fun.  There was a Firefly reference and a Whose Line reference (they actually did a hoedown!  It was amazing :P).  The show ended around 1:45 and I got home at around 2 AM and I went to bed, because I was super tired.

Then on Sunday I went to the OC Fair, because it was the last day of the fair.  I got ice cream, rode a couple rides, petted some animals, walked around a whole lot--and then I took my friend to Watsons Drug Store and Soda Fountain for dinner, where I showed her the working jukebox (we picked some Beatles tunes and Simon and Garfunkel).

It was a fun day.  Busy and fun.

And now this week I'm majorly sleep deprived.  It's the last week of school (so totally happy) and I have to give a presentation tomorrow on some city (in Russian, as well) and I know I'm just going to procrastinate on actually doing anything for it.  It's like as opposed to giving it 100% I'll just give it around...73%.  Because my motivation to do anything productive for the class at this point is kind of gone :/

I've started re-watching NCIS and Bones, for some insane reason.  And for some insane reason I'm thinking, 'Hey, I should do some reading on forensic anthropology!' because, IDK, it seems like a fun subject.  (Of what I learned about it back in forensic science in high school and I think we kind of covered it in physical anthropology.)

Anyway, super sad that [livejournal.com profile] whedonland closed.  I know I haven't been that active there at all these past few months due to school and everything but I'll miss it.  It was my creative outlet.

I mean I made a music video for one of the challenges.

Hi!
So much happened since I last updated this journal.

1. A wedding happened.  My friend, whom I've known for well over 10 years, got married last month and I went to the wedding with my family (mom, dad, and brother) and got to hang out with my best friend there.

(It was hilarious.  At the wedding reception during the part where everyone danced I suggested that we--me, my friend, and my brother--do the Time Warp.  We got the step to a left and a jump to the right but we didn't do a pelvic thrust because we were in a church and we weren't sure if it would be really appropriate IDK.  And then we did some of the Hokey Pokey, because we don't really do any sort of dancing at all and it was either stand in a group talking about stuff or dance.  So we danced.)

2. A birthday party for a friend, whom I only know through my other friend.  Basically that entire weekend that the wedding was on I hung out with my friend.

3. School--last Friday we went on a field trip to this part in Los Angeles that was a Russian part of town.  (Guys, Los Angeles?  Is very crowded and busy.  I think I would hate living in a city.  I live in Tustin, which is near Irvine, and we're more like a suburban town rather than a city.  Los Angeles is very much like London, in terms of how busy it always is.  And Sunset Boulevard by bus takes forever to go on.)

And we went to this bookstore that sold Russian books and I was able to buy a book in Russian (on the Dresden Files forum this series called Night Watch was recommended as a book for those who loved DF.  It was a Russian urban fantasy series.  I have the English translations, which I've never read but are on my To Read List, and I wanted to pick up the original novel, only because sometimes translations to English aren't the best thing ever).

And every other person on the field trip was picking up Harry Potter books in Russian lol.  I get that Harry Potter is awesome but to buy translations of books in another language--IDK.  When I'm learning a language, I'd want a book that was actually written in that language rather than a book translated to that language.  Maybe it's just me, though).

4. I was rather vocal on Facebook about wanting to go on vacation after class is over.  I want to go somewhere by train.

My friend saw my statuses and then asked if I would take this vacation alone, with friends, or with family.

I then decided to ask, 'Hey, when are you free, let's go on vacation together!' Because she said she also wanted to go on vacation.

So, um, I made plans to go on vacation with my friend.  Which, you know, isn't bad, it's just dude, first time traveling with a friend.  (Outdoor Ed in 5th grade doesn't count all that much, only because I went with my entire 5th grade class.)

Yay! regardless, because I know we'll have a fun time together.

We're thinking of hitting up Seattle and Vancouver.  I originally wanted Chicago but IDK how much city that is and I want a nice balance of city and nature wherever I end up going to.  And I've been to Seattle before and it seems very city and nature, and I'm hoping Vancouver is the same.

So I'm very much looking forward to traveling with my friend.

5. Land comms--um, I forgot about doing some challenges.  Oops.  (School is really stifling my creativity.  Also I usually get home at around 4/5:30 PM, depending on traffic, and it's usually really bad on Friday, guys, I'm not kidding, and I'm usually at school at 6:50 AM, and so all I want to do when I get home is crash and not do anything productive, even if it's a land comm challenge.)

I know that [livejournal.com profile] whedonland is closing soon and so I will try to do the last few challenges for that comm, just as a final farewell thing, but I don't know if I can do their gift challenge because I'm just so busy with school.
