Top Gear is back!...and other things
I recently watched the new episode of Top Gear and it was, simply, happiness.  It's like you don't realize how much you like a show until you take a break from it for a couple months and then you watch it.

(And I still haven't seen season 17 yet--I have the episodes.  I just don't care to watch them at the moment.  Oh, and disregard that whole last post last month where I freaked out about the download thing...because I have been downloading things, so...that was just that one moment where I thought all the sites would be shut down.  Thank God that didn't actually happen.)

To get back to Top Gear: the whole episode was entertaining and I quite liked the cars they drove in Italy.  I'm not an expert in cars--I commute to school and I occasionally drive when I want to go to the bookstore.  I can't tell one car from the other (though there are times when I recognize the sign for the Audi Quattro, and one time I even saw a three-wheeled car.  It wasn't a Reliant Robin, but it reminded me of that episode).  I still have no idea what horsepower is or what the valves do or what a car engine does other than that it makes the car actually work.  But I love watching Top Gear for the guys just doing their stuff.

Which is drive around in fast cars.

And sometimes they make comments that make me laugh.

I watch for the entertainment and for the hope that it'll at least bring some joy.  I don't watch for the cars.

(My friend doesn't understand why I like Top Gear, BTW.  I told her that I didn't watch it for the cars and then I told her it was sort of a bit Monty Python, except less so.  It's a good show.  It's a funny show.  Sure, there are cars, but you don't need to know cars to watch and enjoy Top Gear, IMO.)

Anyway, earlier this week I completed the Why You Should Watch... challenge for [livejournal.com profile] tvrealm and this is my post where I explained why you should watch Red Dwarf.  I usually don't post entries containing things I make, but I just wanted to share with you my reasons why you should check out Red Dwarf.

(Though I'm thinking of changing that.  The only reason I usually date out of order the entires containing icons, fanmixes, etc. is that I just think that you guys--or whoever is reading this--wouldn't want to see stuff I make.)

I watched this video recently and now I want a red bowler hat :/ I have a black one already.  I just want a red one now.

(Yeah...Jethro Tull is, safe to say, my favorite band.  Ever.  I like other bands and singers, but Jethro Tull is probably my number one favorite band.  I don't know why--although I do like the way Ian Anderson incorporates the flute into almost all his songs.  And there's going to be a Thick as a Brick sequel.  I'm sort of 'eh' about that and, on the other hand, I'm looking forward to it because it's new JT music.  It's new music that I haven't heard.  I've heard almost all of their albums so far--except for Rock Island.  I need new JT music that I haven't heard yet that I can fall in love with.)

I also want to see Jethro Tull live.  I had this one dream where I was going to do exactly that--but then it never happened and I woke up that morning feeling quite annoyed by how the dream turned out.  So for now I'm just watching their past live performances on Youtube (which, BTW, the concert they did at Madison Square Garden where they played Thick as a Brick is quite awesome to see.  Just saying).

Just another thing I want to say--I really do think that their album Aqualung is quite overrated.  It's not as great as some of their other albums.  (Also my friend--who's only heard Aqualung through the game Rock Band--thinks it's weird that I should like Jethro Tull.)
