Life is cruel
I volunteer at a zoo--I've talked about this before--and two more animals passed away recently.

(I say two more because we recently lost an opossum about two weeks ago, and just today I heard about a tarantula we had had passed away--due to old age--and a collared peccary passed away quite unexpectedly.)

And the new year had started off bad as well--we had lost Kevin Bacon the pot bellied pig (also unexpectedly--he was young), the two prairie dogs, one mule deer--like 2019 is just a bad year at the zoo so far.

It also really doesn't help that opossums have such a short lifespan--at least 3/4 years in captivity (that's how long they live for) and I'm constantly thinking, 'Why can't they have a longer lifespan?' because I just love the ones at the zoo so much.

This upcoming week will be the last week for the youth summer camp and I'm really, quite frankly, sad about that because I was getting used to talking about fencing five days a week.  I'm going to miss that.  Hopefully I'll work at the summer camp next year--it's just for this summer one of the people the coach always went to for the summer camp was busy, and I guess someone else was occupied, so my and my co-worker were both working at the summer camp for the first time.  It was a good experience, basically, to teach kids how to fence and I wouldn't mind working again next summer if my coach offered me the opportunity.

Speaking of summer, I'll be going camping August 11th--it's somewhere close by in the mountains, so hopefully it'll be cooler than the other place I originally was going to camp at.  I just need to get away and spend some time in nature and breath in fresh mountain air.  Hopefully it won't be too hot.
