I'm a film geek. I love film. I love any films made from the 1920s (Chaplin, Marx Brothers, and that's about it) to anything made last year. In the past I watched films with my friend (before we both got too busy to do the film thing and now we occasionally hang out). I think it all started when I took film analysis in high school. That class really introduced me to a wide range of films: Chaplin, the Marx Brothers, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Tootsie, Benny and Joon, a Pink Panther film, and some other films I've forgotten.
So imagine my delight when I happened to see an advertisement on a theater sign that read 'Harold and Maude'. Turns out there's this theater in Santa Ana that is doing this event where they show classic films every Wednesday night. Last week it was Psycho. This week it's Harold and Maude. The upcoming weeks: Groundhog Day, Back to the Future 2, Wizard of Oz, Citizen Kane, Dr. Strangelove (I hate this film but come on, they're showing it in theaters!...I prefer Being There, in terms of awesome Peter Sellers films, closely followed by Murder by Death, starring Maggie Smith, David Niven, Peter Falk, and Sellers. I would say the Pink Panther films but, honestly, it's been such a long time since I've seen any Pink Panther film that I've forgotten them).
It's just...the list is astounding. They're films I would have watched in film classes--actually, I've watched Dr. Strangelove in one college film class, and I watched Harold and Maude in my high school film analysis class.
So I'm going this Wednesday night to see Harold and Maude in theaters! \o/ I have no idea how the sound system will be or what but it'll be in theaters. I mean I could have watched it at home but seeing it in a theater is just something that I would love. I mean I saw Back to the Future in theaters a few years back when it was re-released to theaters--I could have seen it at home but I went and saw it in theaters for the experience.
(I'll also be seeing Jurassic Park 3-D when it's released in April in theaters.)
The ticket was $7, but it'll be worth it (I hope). I know I would have regretted it had I decided to not go and see it. So, I'm saving myself from regret.
And it's Harold and Maude :D in theater. (And Cat Stevens songs.)
