School and The Avengers
So I've figured out what to do about Russian.

Instead of studying Russian at UCLA for the summer, I'll just take Intermediate Russian at Cal State Long Beach, which would, theoretically, count for the 2A-2B-2C sequence.

Which, you know, I go to UCI.  We operate on the quarter system.  CSLB operates on the semester system.

(Plus, I would be able to take an upper-div writing course over the summer at UCI if I take Russian at CSLB.)

So, in other words, the 2012-2013 will be stressful fun.  Really fun.  So much fun that I'll probably be slightly crazy, but maybe not, IDK know more Russian by the end of it.

That's what I'll do.  And plus CSLB is, in the long run, cheaper and also I can drive there easily on the freeway and not have to worry about rush hour and bad LA traffic (and smog).  Despite the fact that I really want to see UC Sunnydale where they filmed some of Buffy season 4 (in terms of college setting), UCLA is just expensive (and I'm the worst at freeway driving.  Seriously.  I mean I'm trying to do more freeway driving alone but it only works for short distances.  IDK why I have this 'fear' of driving the freeway but I do).  And I don't want to spend more than an hour, probably, on the freeway.

The only thing I'll have to worry about is making sure that classes on Tuesday and Thursday don't interfere with the Russian class at CSLB and I'd also have to worry about the final exams.  Thankfully the fall quarter/fall semester final examination times are on separate weeks, but the winter quarter final examination time is during the spring semester, and the spring semester final examination time is during spring quarter.

Um...I'm going to have to do a lot of careful planning to make this all work.  Really careful planning.

TL;DR I'll be going to two different colleges for the 2012-2013 school year that operate on different systems and I'll most likely end up slightly crazy at the end, but at least I'll satisfy the Russian language requirement, so that's a good thing, right?  Still doesn't excuse the fact that the Russian 2A-2B-2C sequence got canceled at UCI for the 2012-2013 school year.  (And apparently all other languages suffered the same fate, except for Spanish.  Due to budget cuts.)

In other news, I signed up to take yoga classes at this building near my home so I can just de-stress there because yoga is fun (I took a class at community college once and loved it).  I've really just missed doing yoga with other people.  I've been trying to do it at my home (I downloaded this yoga app to my iPod touch) but it's quite hard to do it alone.

And now The Avengers.

I went to a midnight showing of it because I've never been to a midnight showing of any movie ever before in my life (I've been to the midnight released of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and I figured I could go see the Avengers at midnight.

I'm still recovering from lack of sleep but dude, it was so worth it.

My thoughts on the film )

So yeah, it's been a weekend of fun, and now I have to get back to doing homework and living in the real world.
