So yesterday I got a haircut.
And it's super short. It's actually a pixie cut (sort of-ish). I've always wanted one (there was this period when I was young where I wanted short hair, like a boy's, and I had that haircut for about three years, but that was when I was around 10 or so) but I was always afraid of getting it (when it comes to self-confidence, I have, like, none. Seriously. IDK why).
But then over the weekend I was all like, 'Frak it, I'm getting a pixie cut and if no one likes it then they can deal with it' because I just wanted one.
So, um...here's what I look like now:

The other Thursday at UCI's Barclay Theatre there was this performance of this Blues Brothers Musical Tribute or something like that. Apparently it was performed in London and the cast are English. I decided to see it, all the while having doubts about it because it felt so sacriligious.
(I am such a big Blues Brothers fan, guys, it's not funny. I have action figures. And posters. And on one of the posters they mis-spelled Dan Aykroyd's last name. For the past six Halloweens, since 2006 I've dressed up as a Blues Brother for Halloween (though this year I'll dress as something different). I pretend that Blues Brothers 2000, apart from the music, doesn't exist because it was really bad and awful and the Bluesmobile, no matter how awesome it was in the first film, is not a magical car that can fit people in the glovebox (don't ask). Seriously. That film as so many faults. But I digress.)
TL;DR because I'm such a big fan of the Blues Brothers (Aykroyd and Belushi) I had doubts about seeing the musical.
And, to my surprise, it was actually very good. There were some weak parts and it didn't seem like a musical but more like a concert. The first time they came on stage I thought I was seeing Elwood and Jake. It was like this moment when you see your favorite star live, except these guys were just playing the characters and they weren't actually the characters. IDK. I just loved it. There was singing, some dancing, more singing--they performed Give Me Some Lovin', they did Stand By Your Man with the correct hand motions, Sweet Home Chicago, Minnie the Moocher, Flip, Flop, and Fly, Soul Man, and some other songs associated with the Blues Brothers.
It wasn't the movie but more like them singing songs from the film and from other Blues Brothers albums. So it seemed fresh and new.
Also, this past Tuesday I got Ian Anderson's Thick as a Brick 2 album.
In case you didn't know, Jethro Tull is one of my favorite bands ever. IDK why that's so but it is. And Ian Anderson plays the flute, which is awesome, because I used to play the flute.
And then last year, I believe, I read that he was going to release a sequel to Thick as a Brick (this amazing concept album they did in the 1970's) and I had my doubts about it.
But, being a fan, I pre-ordered the CD anyway because I had faith that Anderson would make it work.
