I'm here sitting at my computer morning the loss of new Monk and Psych on Friday night (is it July yet?? Ha...July: new Harry Potter book, new 2-disc special edition version of Serenity, and Monk and Psych. Now, really, is it July yet?). My life feels oddy empty and strange without new Monk/Psych to cheer me up.
Anyway, today I gave blood. Whoohoo! At school. Which actually went rather remarkable well compared to last year. First off, the blood drive wasn't held in the cafeteria (which, in my opinion, was rather stuffy and small) but the gym instead. Which I was grateful for, because gym=big. And spacious. So when a ton of people are in there it doesn't get terribly stuffy/hot. And when people got there to check in they got a number, which didn't happen last year. Last year was we got there, got our little appointment card stamped and went inside and sat down. And then whenever a nurse would come up and ask for another patient/guinea pig/human, no one would raise their hand. Or at least it didn't seem that way to me.
Which I could be right.
Anyway, so today went well. When I was getting the physical examination done, and after the doctor/nurse pricked my finger and got the blood level back for iron/whatever, she commented, "You guys really like your hamburgers out here because some girls I check out only have level 8" or something like that. Except I despise hamburgers. I don't know why. And hotdogs as well. Unless I absolutely have to eat them but I try not to. Which I don't know why either. I guess I just grew tired of hamburgers/hotdogs. The only type of burger that I would eat has to have chicken or turkey in it. Other than that, I won't eat a hamburger/hotdog.
So, all that happened. (Psst-I'm AB+. Go me...) And then I went to go get blood drawn out and I was nervous as heck, even though I had already done it all before last year. And the nurse commented on my eyes. She asked if they were real and I said no, they were contacts. Because my real eyes are pale green and these contacts I'm wearing are a brighter green. So I think it really stands out against my normal eye color and all. So they stuck the needle in me (which hurt like heck. I had to shut my eyes 'cause I was sort of scared) and got my blood (vampires!!! all of them!!!) and then after about seven/six/six.five minutes they took the needle out (which hurt like heck. vampires!!! all of them!!! I actually had an interesting idea for a story while there that invovled a vampire who works as a blood donor doctor who steals the human blood) and put on the bandage and everything.
Another new thing this year was that they made everybody lie down for about five minutes or so. Which I thought really helped because last year people were just getting up and walking around and fainting (well, that was the case for me). I really thought that helped because I felt really lightheaded afterwards (which, if I did get up and walk around, I would've, undoubtedly, fainted then. But I didn't) but all that improved after I layed down. So, in the end, there was less people fainting (in fact, when I left, I think I heard that only one person fainted. Which I think is a great improvement from last year. Of course, the only person I knew who fainted last year was me.)
Anyway and then I went and ate and drank and talked to people and confirmed the fact that I'm less shy than what I was in 8th grade. So there, I improved; I'm not that shy anymore (because I swear I was the shyest kid in the sixth grade at my middle school. Same can be said for seventh as well). And even if I was shy, I'm not because I just don't have anyone to talk to.
So overall: I didn't faint. Which made me happy. Because I didn't faint. But I'm also dissapointed because this year=no free blood donor t-shirt. Which I'm really depressed because the front said, "I misses class because I'm a blood donor" or something along that line. Which I found highly amusing. (Now I have to go and rent American Graffiti because we watched that in Film Analysis today)
It was sort of sad today because I realized that most kids were donating blood in order to get out of class which really defeated the purpose of giving blood out of generosity. But they donated, which I guess is a good thing, but not out of generosity; nay, out of selfishness, because for what the wandering eye can percieve than what the heart cannot was the fact of their Economics test and how they hardly felt like sitting at a desk and taking the darn thing ("To be or no to be-that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and daggers something something". Or how about this: "How all occasions do inform against me and spur my dull revenge. What is a man if his chief good and master of time be but to sleep and feed? A beast, no more." Soliloquy=have to remeber for English. Mine: 34 lines. Minimum is 12 but extra credit=remembering the entire thing so I'm gonna go for that).
Okay, that's my story. I'm gonna go read Twilight because Lauren recommended it to me and it has vampires in it and apparently a club is starting at school that is dedicated to Twilight and its sequel New Moon which is a bit weird for a club but not as weird as the Bearded Men's Club or the club where once a month this girl and others go to a park and watch clouds. (High school=weird, interesting, do I have to graduate this year because I really don't want to).
I apologize for any spelling errors in this journal entry.
