Wanted to post this yesterday, but forgot.
Yesterday we finished this WW1 movie called The Lost Battalion...apparently, this American troop went into the Argonne forest with more than 500 men. After a five day battle with the Germans and this slight misshap with friendly fire (the Americans back at the headquarters were aiding from behind the American troop; they didn't know they were killing their own men), this American troop came out with less than 200 men.
Think about it:
more than 500 men
5 days later
less than 200 men.
And this carrier pigeon that was wounded but still delivered a message is now stuffed on display at the Smithsonian(?) Instituion.
